Following that link, it indicates that of doctors who favor expansion of coverage, a majority support a combination of public and private option. But note that the survey only asks doctors to express their preference for HOW coverage is expanded...not IF it should be expanded, or if other options (ie, clinics, vouchers, etc) should be considered.

So a majority of a subset of doctors favors a combined public/private option...but the poll results can't be extrapolated to doctors at large.

There are many sources out there, but here's one from the New England Journal of Medicine:

http://healthcarereform.nejm.org/?p=1790

I realize that they don't slant the facts to the right so you wouldn't consider them a valid source. To right-wingers, without the right-wing spin, that means they have a liberal bias.

I'm not aware of the (ahem) statistic that Ben refers to. But I AM aware of the study that said up to 45% of doctors would consider retiring early from the practice of medicine if healthcare reform (with a public option) as currently described is passed.

Here's one of many sources: http://www.nevadabusiness.com/issue/1109/1/2132

Such a small world, I recently moved from Iroquois in that small eastern Kentucky town. We are very close in age and I remember those wonderful Halloween times, wandering through so many neighborhoods, with my pillowcase.
Thanks for sharing the memory.

Jeffrey, what a great story... i remember the cash i think the next year he gave me a pair of sox....

i thought you were gonna talk about the house with the round table, where you signed the yellow legal pad and made a trip around the table in the dining room...seven or eight different trays of goodies AND the giant pyramid of cracker jacks in the center... do you remember that guy too?

Jeff,

We had a similar place on our street, a couple of blocks up from my house in Columbus. "Witch Hazel" lived there - our name for her. Dark stone and wood construction, overgrown grass and weeds, rarely an electric light on at night (just candles), strange sounds emanating from the house (as the legend went). When she died, the paperboy found her at the door. The paperboy told the neighbors, who passed the word up and down the street. Us kids got together, cut the grass, pulled weeds, helped the Dads with trimming bushes and trees. You guys had more guts than we did - we never got the nerve to go to the door!

Cheers!

[She was being interviewed by CNBC money babe Maria Bartiromo and said this when asked about tax increases due to allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire, “That wasn’t a tax increase. It is– it is– eliminating a tax decrease that was there.”

Folks you can’t write stuff that stupid and expect it won’t be cut from your script.]

In the same vein, Reagan was responsible for one of the biggest tax increases in U.S. history.

That was not long after he passed one of the biggest tax cuts in history and saw the enormous deficit.
